Chocolate Chip Cookies

Betty Crocker version

2/3 C shortening
2/3 C real butter softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar packed
2 eggs
2 t vanilla
3 C flour  (If you are using self rising flour, omit soda and salt.)
1 t soda
1 t salt
1 cups chopped nuts if desired
2 packages (6 oz) chocolate chips

Heat over to 375.

Mix thoroughly shortening, butter, sugars, eggs and vanilla.

Stir in remaining ingredients.

For a softer rounder cookie, add 1/2 C flour.  (I've added 1 extra Tablespoon of water to this.)

Drop dough onto ungreased baking sheet two inches apart.

Bake 8-10 minutes or until light brown.

Cool slightly before removing from cookie sheet.
