Cream 1/3 cup shortening and 1 cup sugar
Add 1 egg
Sift together:
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

Peel and dice 4-5 apples and 1/2 cups nuts. Add to the cake mixture. Mix well and bake at 350 for 40 minutes.
