Southwestern Spoon Bread

1 can cream style corn
1 cup yellow cornmeal
3/4 cup milk
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs lightly beaten
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 can diced green chilies
1 cup shredded cheese


In a mixing bowl, stir together all ingredients except last two. Pour half the batter into a greased 2 quart baking dish. Sprinkle with chilies and cheese. Pour remaining batter over all. Bake at 375 for about 45 minutes.
